Meetings
This section covers all of the MOD sponsored standards meetings. The MOD, under the auspices of the DE&S organisation, periodically host meetings with industry to discuss ATS related standards.
This is to present UK defence policy in relation to the test requirements for defence equipment, and to understand the views and needs of their suppliers in support of these requirements.
These meetings are open to all those that use and supply defence related ATS, and as a result of this the MOD have allowed the minutes of these meetings to be published for the benefit of all.
IEEE 1641 plays a large part in these requirements and discussions, together with IEEE 1671 and Open System Architecture standards.
Meetings are held approximately twice per year, although there have occasionally been up to four per year when standards activity is high, for example when new standards are being developed and discussed.
Prior to 2013, the Meetings were called Standards Liaison Group for Automatic Test (SLGAT), but then the name was changed to Committee on Automatic Test Systems for Defence (CATS4D), with a new structure and Terms of Reference.
The agenda usually covers items such as:
- IEEE 1641 (development and improvements)
- IEEE 1671 (ATML) series status
- UK Defence Standards that relate to ATS (.e.g, Def Stan 33-61 Part 8 - Open Standard Architecture)
- Reports from IEEE SCC20 standards meetings
- Reports on other ATS meetings & conferences (e.g., AUTOTESTCON)
- Any other ATS standards relevant material
